GORDO

BARN arch. undertook the renovation of an Old Olive Oil Factory and the design of the Gordo Restaurant in Güre, Balıkesir.

The project attitude is based on maintaining the old potentials and processing the geographical character of the building during the re-functioning of the existing historical building. The historical building pattern extending in the section of Sea-Kaz Mountains in Güre, acts as a background that allows the visitor to notice the design prior to arriving the area.

Gordo contains many elements that are architecturally significant, however, in short, it is a successful integration where interventions and add-ons have found a response in the living space. The development of the restaurant every day by adhering to the first scenario shows the fruitful nature of the first ideas in the ongoing process.
