SAFE WORK AT HEIGHT TRAINING FACILITY

Architecture

AN INSTITUTE GARDEN

Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Athletics Field reclamation area is designed to support both theoretical and practical training for Working Safely at Height. The project brings together enclosed training spaces, a dedicated practice structure, support functions, and an integrated landscape arrangement within a single spatial framework.

GUIDED

GEOMETRY

The massing strategy is defined in relation to the primary direction of access, future integration with possible interventions in the recreational area, and the dominant view axis. These parameters establish the building’s orientation within the broader site context.

ELEVATED

LANDSCAPE

By elevating the building on reinforced concrete supports, the continuity of the landscape is preserved. This approach allows the structure to integrate more directly with the open character of the Maltepe reclamation landscape.

Defying the ground plane to preserve the horizon. The facility operates as a single, permeable framework where rigid safety protocols and fluid landscapes collide. Architecture as an operational stage—a floating framework integrating intensive training zones into the open character of the Maltepe reclamation site.

ORIENTED

COURTYARD

The building mass is organised along two principal axes in order to maximise solar exposure and natural ventilation. At the same time, this configuration defines and spatialises the courtyard serving the dedicated practice zone and the additional training areas.

PROGRAMME

CUT

Spaces attached to the north–south corridor accommodate administrative functions and are reserved for the building’s permanent users. Those arranged along the east–west corridor are dedicated to training users and include classrooms, dining, changing, and shower areas.
